Two iterations of a board game café, both in historically significant buildings in the heart of Winnipeg’s Exchange District. The first version – in the back end of saloon that boasted the onetime longest bar in the West - lightly tweaked an existing coffee shop by gilding the original pressed-tin ceiling and adding a string of glitzy chandeliers. A few years later the café expanded and moved across the street into a building that has seen numerous incarnations over its long history, including a total rebuild after a major fire, an expansion with added floors, a mod façade, and a post-mod façade. The new location with its much larger footprint accommodates an expanded kitchen, retail area and gaming zone. Like the initial cafe, the new locale is also blessed with a vintage heritage-protected tin ceiling, which is similarly enriched with metallic paint and sparkling lights.
