Another home on Home Street in Wolseley in need of major upgrades. The removal of a dilapidated old back porch became an opportunity to create a new focus for the home, with a double-height kitchen, linked to a second floor music studio. The light filled kitchen’s open upper shelves and lower storage allow sunlight to penetrate the cabinetry. A salvaged brick wall soaks up solar energy during the day and reradiates it back into home at night. Like all homes in the neighbourhood, the site is very tight. A new carport off of the back laneway incorporates a green roof to provide a floating backyard, and partially screens the view into the home. The exterior of the little addition is clad in Corten steel, as is a new porch at the front of the house.
