A traditional timber-frame home with the intricate wood framing members lovingly prefabricated piece by piece, then assembled quickly by the master carpenters and a crew of hale and hearty volunteers. A sublime hybrid of traditional and contemporary means and methods were employed to get the project built. The massive oak timbers were sourced from an Amish community still reliant on horse and buggy, and abstaining from telephones or other modern means of communications. While power tools and a towering crane sped up the process of fabrication and assembly, hefty mallets and hand chisels were still required to finesse the mortise and tenon joinery together and secure wooden pegs into place.
